It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Shelby Jean Futrell of Richlands, North Carolina, who passed away on June 7, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Shelby Jean may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Shelby Jean touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by : her parents, Jonas Brinson and Eliza Scott Brinson. She is survived by : her husband J. D. Futrell; her children, Gloria King (Artie) of Richlands and Ricky Futrell (Marilyn) of Beulaville; her sister Lee Horne of Morehead City; and her granddaughter Theresa Houston (Jamey) of Beulaville. She is also survived by two great-granddaughters; two great-great grandsons and other extended family members and friends.
A graveside service was held on Sunday, June 9th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Futrell Family Cemetery.
