He was predeceased by: his parents, Solon J. Stackleather and Minnie Pennell Stackleather; his son Steven Stackleather; his stepson Jack Gilmore; and his sister Betty O'Kelley Bresett.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Gulledge Stackleather; his sons, David Stackleather (Alexandra) and James "Jimmy" Stackleather (Mayra); his stepsons, Ronnie Gilmore (Connie) and Mickey "Tommy" Gilmore (Lynn); his brothers, Homer Stackleather and James D. O'Kelley (Anita); and his daughter-in-law Anita Stackleather. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
