He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Carlyle Stein Sr. and Lorean Clayton Stein; his brother-in-law Tony Smith; and his son-in-law Eric Lomax. He is survived by: his wife Sharri Elaine Barringer Stein; his children, Carl Stein (Angie) of China Grove, Cindi Tipton (Bill) of New London and Sandra Lomax of Denton; and his siblings, Jimmy Stein of Rockwell, Pat Aldridge of Badin, Sylvia Smith of Albemarle and Linda Little of Albemarle. He is also survived by five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for Cancer and Heart research.
