He was predeceased by: his parents, Mamie Nelson and Buxton Nelson of Rich Square; and his siblings, Raeford, Frances Boykin, Margaret Harrell and Janie Sumner.
He is survived by: his sons, Rodney, Greg and Doug; his brothers, W. C. and Dick; and his grandchildren, Morgan Nelson, Matthew Nelson, Caitlin Nelson, Garrison Nelson and Ashton Nelson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
