He was predeceased by: his father Eric Abernethy; his daughter Cindy Gentry; his granddaughter Katelyn; his great grandchild Hasley; and his grandsons, Travis and Justin.
He is survived by: his wife Geraldine Lunsford Abernethy; his children, Donna Price (Dale) of Rhodhiss, Carol Lefevers of Rhodhiss, Teresa Tramble of Hudson, Robyn Miller and Alan Abernethy (Michelle) of Kingsport, TN; and his sister Nina Abernethy of Rutherford College.
