He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Blackwell and Lucille Poteat Blackwell; his sons, Brian Blackwell and Jonathan L. Blackwell; and his siblings, Elizabeth Ann Blackwell Stamps and Charles Horton Blackwell.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Coates Blackwell; his sons, Terence Coates (Shawnda) of Greensboro, NC and Timothy L. Blackwell of Reidsville, NC; his grandson Aman James Blackwell of Danville, VA; his brother Michael "Lee Mac" Blackwell (Viola); and his siblings-in-law, Betty Martin, Barbara Foust, Vernell Blackwell, Robert Coates (Brenda) and Howard Coates. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Saturday, October 12th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home (721 E Morehead St, Reidsville, NC 27320). Visitation was held on Sunday, October 13th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the New Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church (8939 U. S. Hwy 158 W, Ruffin, NC 27326). A funeral service was held on Sunday, October 13th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
