He is survived by: his wife Mary Coates Blackwell; his sons, Terence Coates (Shawnda) of Greensboro, NC and Timothy L. Blackwell of Reidsville, NC; his grandson Aman James Blackwell of Danville, VA; his brother Michael "Lee Mac" Blackwell (Viola); and his siblings-in-law, Betty Martin, Barbara Foust, Vernell Blackwell, Robert Coates (Brenda) and Howard Coates. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
