She was predeceased by: her parents, Owen Lee and Ercell Clayton Satterfield; her husband Huel T. Hovatter, Sr.; her daughter Ida Lee Hovatter; and her granddaughter Kami S. James.
She is survived by: her children, Barbara H. James (Steve) of Ruffin and H. Thomas Hovatter, Jr. of Ruffin; and her grandchildren, Mark S. James and Myra J. Rigney (Nathan).
