He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Aaron Withers, Sr. and Maggie Howard Withers; and his sister Yvonne Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Theon Murphy Withers; his stepson Alton J. Ellison; his sisters, Margaret Cannon (Ulysses) of Pelham, Sandra Douglas (John) of Greensboro, Ann Parker of Pelham and Claire Coltrane (Leon) of Yanceyville; and his mother-in-law Estella Murphy of Pelham. He is also survived by brothers in law and sisters in law, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
