She is survived by: her children, Lamont Watkins, Meshon Watkins and RJ Watkins (Ivy); her grandchildren, Keyona, Qynton, Christion and Caylei; her siblings, George E. Simpson, Jackie L. Simpson (Penny), Alphonzo Simpson, Gail S. McGee (Tom) and Carol Simpson; and her daughter Tamika C. Watkins. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In remembrance of Joann's life and love, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Autism Speaks, reflecting her love for her youngest grandchild.
