He was predeceased by: his father Royal Griffin; his brother James Lee Griffin; and his granddaughter Christy Taylor. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Leake Griffin; his children, Jerry G Griffin of Franklin Park, Illinois, Sharon Middendorf (David) and Virginia Jarrett (Mark); his grandchildren, Jason L. Taylor, Jennifer M. Strickland, Anna Yang (Jin) of Raleigh and Jason Middendorf (Sarah); his great grandchildren, Nevyn Yang, Bryce Yang, Connor Yang, Edwin Middendorf and Evelyn Middendorf; and his sister Pattie O'Bryant.
