He was predeceased by: his parents, Walther H. Underwood and Hulda Walker Underwood; his wife Mary Allen Underwood; his son Stephen Holt Underwood; and his siblings, Homer Underwood, Horace Underwood, Wallace Underwood, Grey Miles, Dorothy Rice and Lois Minson.
He is survived by: his daughter Cindy U. Whitley (Whit); his brother Paul Underwood (Tillie) of Reidsville; his grandchildren, Brittney Breeden (Zach), Hannah Evans (Clyde), Kathryn Stone, Morgan Brooks (Cody) and Alison Underwood; and his great grandchildren, Hunter Underwood, Bella Stone, Grayson Evans, Henry Breeden, Georgia Evans, Blair Brooks and Oliver Breeden.
