She was predeceased by: her parents, Lester Musselwhite and Nollie Cox Musselwhite; her husband James A. B. Newton; her grandson James Michael Newton; and her siblings, Blanch Pulley, Quessie Sanderson, Mildred Wilkerson, Eva Daniels, Elmer Musselwhite, Bobby Musselwhite and Jimmy Musselwhite.
She is survived by: her children, Linda Ivey, Billy Oliver Bullock (Wilma), Ramona Gonzalez (Victor), James Newton (Vanessa), Monica Moreno (Javier), Don Newton (Kim), Jerry Newton (Sandra) and Amy Griffin (Randy); her grandchildren, Lavern Ivey, Sherry Rising, Kirk Ivey, James Bullock, Cristina Bullock, Israel Gonzalez, Melisha Oxendine, Tasha Ivey, Ashley Sotir, Andrew Newton and Kayla Almubarak; her great grandchildren, Rahana Shafiq, Natalie Bullock, Daniel Bullock, Wendy Hunt, Cory West, Brent Locklear, Tylyn Ivey, Hunter Ivey, Brantley Chavis, Bennett Newton and Adam Almubarak; her great great grandchild Willow Hunt; and her sister Evelyn Lewis.
