She was predeceased by: her mother Sarah Elizabeth Brooks; her brothers, Michael Brooks and Dwight Locklear; and her great-niece Amelia Ann Sanderson. She is survived by: her father John L. Brooks; her husband Danny Jones; her sons, Danny E. Jones and John C. Jones (Layla); her grandson Blaiden Christopher Jones; her siblings, Doris Jacobs (Haroldine), Arline Brooks, Arnold Brooks, Annette Brooks, Pearlie Blue (Mike) and Sarah Locklear (Johnny); her adoptive son Daquan Newkirk; and her close friends, Steve Cox, Larry Sprviell, Nikki Locklear and Tonya Locklear. She is also survived by sixteen nieces and nephews, 36 great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Boles Funeral Home- Red Springs (102 S Vance St, Red Springs, NC 28377). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the God's Holy Assembly Church. A burial was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at the Oxendine Cemetery Union Chapel (5142 Oakgrove Church Rd, Lumberton, NC 28372).
