She was predeceased by: her husband Harvey Lowery; her daughters, Janice Chavis and Annette Lowery; her parents, Arthur Hammonds and Annie Ruth Hammonds; and her siblings, Telford Hammonds, Mildred Morano, Ervin Hammonds, Geneva Oxendine and Mabel Bryant.
She is survived by: her children, Jeanette Locklear (Nash Jr.) of Lumberton, N. C., Timothy Ray Lowery (Gail), Anthony Ray Lowery (Bridgette) and Harvey Lynn Lowery (Melissa); her son-in-law Wade Chavis Jr. of Red Springs, NC; her siblings, Orell "Doc" Hammonds of Red Springs, NC and Annie Zell Ward of Shannon, NC; and her grandson Jason Lowery. She is also survived by thirty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
