He is survived by: his mother Helen Coleman Theodore of Lake City, Florida; his wife Shirley McMillan Britt; his brothers, Thomas Mitchell Britt Jr. of Lumberton, Mike Britt of Alexandra, VA and Ronnie Britt of Lake City, FL; his grandchildren, Amanda Hammonds (Robert Jr.), Cameron Britt, Devin Britt, Noah Britt and Bailey Britt; and his great grandchildren, Kailee Hammonds, Kyler Britt, Mali Hammonds, Alec Britt, Ava Hammonds and Bodhi Hammonds.

“Dear Shirley and Family and Thomas and Ron Britt, Please know I am thinking of you all on this sad occasion. Although I have not seen David in a number of years, I have fond memories of the Coleman gatherings in Red Springs. The cousins played together and were a close knit family. I remember especially a picture of David as a very young child with long curly hair. He looked like a little cherub. Rest in peace David. You will be missed by all. Love, Tana Coleman Melton”
