She was predeceased by: her parents, Bennie Emanuel and Mary Alice Chavis; her husband Carl Chavis; her grandson Adrian Chavis; and her siblings, Rosie Mae Chavis, Judy Clark, Aree Locklear, Jack Chavis and Albert Locklear.
She is survived by: her children, Ernie Chavis (Brenda) of Jacksonville, Timmy Chavis (Darlene) of Maxton and Karen Chavis Clark of Maxton; her brother Delton Chavis of Maxton; her grandchildren, Ana Chavis Audet of Crestview, Maranda Strickland of Maxton, Alec Chavis of Colorado Springs, Zachary Chavis of Maxton and Mason Clark of Maxton; her great grandchildren, Braydon McMillan, Michael Sagona, Jr., Maverick Audet and Carlson Chavis; her niece Crystal Blue; and her caregivers, Molly Locklear (Cookie), Madison Chavis and Sabrina Clark. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
She volunteered with Children's Bible Ministries and enjoyed making donations to several children's hospitals and orphanages.
