Ray Garland Rice Obituary
Ray Garland Rice, age 74, of Randleman died Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro. Mr. Rice was a native of West Virginia and served in the US Navy. Ray was owner and operator of Rice Steel Works in Staley. He was a deacon and teacher at Branson Mill Baptist Church and a loving husband, father and papaw.
Ray enjoyed the mountains, camping and four wheeling. He is survived by his wife: Betty Crigger Rice of the home; daughter: Angela Briggs and her husband Eddie of Ramseur; sons: Anthony Ray Rice and his wife Pam of Level Cross, Steven Lee Rice and his wife Tammy of Sophia, and Robert Rice of Level Cross; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister: Ethel Price of Rural Retreat, VA; brothers: Willie Lon Rice of Etowah, NC, and Lawrence Thomas Rice of Eden.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 18, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Lindsey Funeral Home, 219 N. Main St., Rural Retreat, Va.24368-0195. The funeral will be held Sunday, August 19, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Groceclose Chapel United Methodist Church, Dry Rd., Speedwell, Va. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the home of Larry Crigger in Country View Estates, Rural Retreat, Va.
