He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Jarrell and Neely Jarrell; his wife Brenda Jarrell; his daughter Christine Jarrell; and his siblings, Donnie Jarrell, Phyllis Greene and Shelby Patrick.
He is survived by: his daughter Breanna Apperson (Matthew) of Asheboro; and his grandchildren, Kenley Rae Apperson and Madelyn Claire Apperson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
