He is survived by: his son-in-law Chris; his wife Kathy Owens Sykes; his children, Melody Sykes of Randleman, Jamie Carpenter (Chris) of Sophia, Davie Sykes, Jr. of Asheboro and Nicholas Sykes (Kathryn) of Corpus Christi, TX.; his grandchildren, Austin Carpenter, Ashlyn Carpenter and AnnaBelle Sykes; his father Lester Thomas Sykes; his siblings, Bobby Jernigan of Graham, Becky Troxler (Garland) of Elon, Connie Horner (Ned) of Mebane, Vivian Crawford of Graham, Tammy Maye (Danny) of Burlington, Jay Sykes (Donna) of Haw River, Jim Sykes of Haw River and Harold Sykes of Haw River; his stepmother Delois Davis of Graham; and also Pat Carpenter. He is also survived by nine son "Bo" and several nieces and nephews.
