He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Byrd and Ennis Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Mildred Peele Byrd; his children, Sharon Caughron of Goldsboro, Angela Williamson (John) of Raleigh, Jeff Byrd (Vivian) of Greensboro and Ken Byrd of Charlotte; his siblings, Dixie Newlin of Snow Camp and Irving Byrd (Pat) of Harrisonburg; and his grandchildren, Eliza Chisholm, Joshua Byrd, Rachel Cortez, Miriam, Katherine, Jackson Caughron and Mak Williamson.
