She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Grady Patterson and Ruth Dark Patterson; her sister Linda Cheek; and her grandparents, Notie, Sam Dark, Valmore and Bertha Patterson.
She is survived by: her husband Charles Alston; her sons, Grady Alston (Lynia) of Ramseur and Bristol Alston of Ramseur; her siblings, Mary P. White (Gordon) of Liberty, Janice Patterson of Greensboro and Grady Patterson of Greensboro; and her grandchildren, Breajhane Lasseter, Alayshia Alston, Madison Alston and Alexander Alston.
