He is survived by: his children, Paul Calvin Newton, III (Hongyan Zhang Newton) of Seattle, WA, Frances Newton Watson (Johnny Philip Watson) of Raleigh, NC and Jenny Newton Hosford (John William Hosford III) of Waynesville, NC; his grandchildren, Tamara Watson Adams (David), Derek Watson (Jennifer), Roxanne Hosford, Ragland Kristina Hosford (John) and Cathryn Hosford Hansher (Zachary); his great grandchildren, Mallory, Avery, Jonathan Adams, Dale and Lane Watson; his brother Francis Lanneau Newton of Chapel Hill; and his sister-in-law Sunny Newton.
