He was predeceased by: his son William Joseph Stubbs; his parents, William Chamlers and Wilma Parker Stubbs; and his siblings, Rosa Knight, Wanda Brown, Dorothy Atkinson, Billy Stubbs, Bobby Stubbs, Calvin Stubbs, James Stubbs, Bootie Stubbs and Parker Stubbs.
He is survived by: his wife Clara Mae Stubbs; his stepchildren, Billy Watson (Terrie) of Liberty, Ralph Norton (Pat) of Asheboro, Jean Watson Williams (Jeff) of Ramseur and Peggy Routh (Sammy) of Franklinville; his siblings, Alice Caulder, Tommy Stubbs, Douglas Stubbs, Clifton Stubbs and Vernon Stubbs; and his grandson Tyler Stubbs of Climax. He is also survived by nine step grandchildren, eighteen step great-grandchildren.
