He was predeceased by: his wife Marie Lawson Cain; his son James Wayne Cain; his parents, James Arthur and Georgia Hill Cain; and his siblings, Bernice Johnson, Oneida Cain, Verlene Hopkins and Ralph Cain.
He is survived by: his siblings-in-law, Dale Dubendorf of Asheboro, Wayne Lawson (Carol) of Coleridge and Gayle Lawson (Martha) of Coleridge; and his nieces and nephews, Dianne Leonard (David) of Asheboro, Gaye Criscoe (Lane) of Ramseur, Kelly Hardin of Greensboro, Rama Mills of Durham, Retta Walpole of Durham, Gary Branson and Garland Hopkins (Sally Bulles). He is also survived by 8 great nieces and nephews.
