He was predeceased by: his father Daniel Jacob Mitchell; his siblings, Paul, O'Connor, DJ, Agnes Crabtree, Villa Gray Dupree, Orbell Griffin, Patsy Zepta and Uldine Parkhurst; and his son Wilbur Clayton Mitchell, Jr. (Clay).
He is survived by: his wife Marlene Ferrell Mitchell; his daughter Kris Mitchell Pugh (Bill) of Fuquay-Varina; his daughter-in-law Shelley Mitchell of Holly Springs; his grandchildren, Dana Pollard (Lyle) of Benson, Daniel Mitchell (Jessica) of Willow Springs, Justin Pugh (Courtney) of Kenly, Cameron Pugh of Fuquay-Varina, Ashlyn Bubak (Jeffrey) of Holly Springs and Bryce Mitchell (Nathalie) of Myrtle Beach; and his brother Robert Mitchell. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
