She was predeceased by: her husband Gerald Whitt. She is survived by: her son Matt (René Gardner); her grandsons, Eli and Cade; and her siblings, Sam Beane (Deborah) of Centerville, LA, Judy Schneider (Vince) of Garner, NC, Jeanne Whittlesey (Tom) of Apex, NC, Jason, Amy and Katherine Matteson of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church (100 E Peace St, Raleigh, NC 27604). A reception was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sally's memory to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
