He is survived by: his wife Lula Bell Eason; his children, Michael Minor and Phyllistine Peterkin; his niece Patricia McCutcheon; and his caregiver Brenda Irish. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Steven L Lyons Funeral Home (1515 New Bern Ave, Raleigh, NC 27610). Visitation was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Poplar Springs Christian Church (6115 Old Stage Rd, Raleigh, NC 27603). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at the Poplar Springs Christian Church Cemetery (6115 Old Stage Rd, Raleigh, NC 27603).
