He is survived by: his great grandchildren, Demika Sams, Stephen Hines II, Brittani Hines, Joshua Brooks, Indya Nwokorie (Uchenna), Imanuel Brooks, Edwinna Hicks, Edward Hicks Jr. (Melanie), Bryce Joseph and Ian Hicks; his great great grandchildren, Thomas Sams, Denim Sams, Emery Hines, Brook Brown, Hart Upchurch, Yoma Hicks, Kao Alicea, Yuri Nwokorie and Yohanna Nwokorie; his granddaughter Christi Shaw; his nephew Vernon Shaw; and his stepsons, Ronnie Chamblee of Atlanta and Kenneth Chamblee of Maryland.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Home of Gilbert & Keitia Brooks (1608 Brierley Hill Ct, Raleigh, NC 27610). Viewing was held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 1:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Rush Metropolitan AME Zion Church (558 E Cabarrus St, Raleigh, NC 27601). A burial will be held on Monday, November 25th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Faulk Cemetery (599 Berry Lewis Rd, Bladenboro, NC 28320).
