He was predeceased by : his parents, Nickola F. Courie and Mayre P. Courie; and his brother Mittrey. He is survived by : his sisters, Dolores Collins and Janiece Wall; his wife Barbara "Bobbi" Otis Courie; his children, Jon Courie (Roy Braeger) of Glendale, Calif., Anne Courie Meulink (Marco) of Raleigh and Nicole Courie (James Knott) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Annika, Shannon Meulink and Stella Knott; and his caregivers, Mandy Sandri, Florence Serem, Megan Hauber and Christine Waltz.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 8th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the St. Michael's Episcopal Church (1520 Canterbury Rd, Raleigh, NC 27608).
