He was predeceased by: his father Durwood J. McKenzie. He is survived by: his wife Leigh C. McKenzie; his children, Kevin "Mac" Mckenzie, Jr. (Samantha) and Lilia McKenzie; and his mother Shirley Ussery. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Sunday, November 10th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the McLaurin Funeral Home (12830 US 70 Business Hwy W, Clayton, NC 27520). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 11th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church (3000 E Garner Rd, Raleigh, NC 27610).
