It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Herbert Henry Neunzig (Raleigh, North Carolina), who passed away on October 31, 2024, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the vast expanse of eternity, may Herbert Henry find peace everlasting, cradled in the gentle embrace of the universe. And as we stand on the shores of remembrance, may his legacy inspire us to live each day with purpose, passion, and profound gratitude for the gift of life itself.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Edward Neunzig and Elsie Neunzig (Schwinn); his son Keith Weidler Neunzig; and his sisters, Ruth Neunzig Brecht and Dr. Winifred Neunzig.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Neunzig (Miller); and his son Kurt Miller Neunzig. He is also survived by three nieces and three nephews.
Having retired from State after 35 years, Herb continued his research and association with the WEDGE Entomological Research Foundation, publishing four fascicles and naming many new insect species which he discovered and identified.
