It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gladys Rutledge of Raleigh, North Carolina, who passed away on February 28, 2025, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Arther Clyde Penland and Derfie Willis Penland; her grandparents, Thomas Clingman Willis and Victoria Melton Willis; her husband Joseph A. "Jerry" Rutledge; and her siblings, Grace Marie Penland, Beaula Jean Penland, Stella Penland and Carmel Clyde Penland.
She is survived by: her children, Debbie Rutledge Holt (Sam), Sandra "Sandy" Rutledge, Melvin L. Rutledge (Nola) and Dennis Jerome Rutledge; her grandchildren, Anna Burleson, Melissa Johnson, Samantha Brewer, Tiffany Adams, Paul Rutledge and Tara Bruce; and her great grandchildren, Jeffery, Josie Bruce, Cabott Johnson, Michael, Nathan Adams, Rachel, Charlie Brewer and Izzy Burleson.
