George Sadler Edwards Sr. MD Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Sadler Edwards Sr. MD of Raleigh, North Carolina, born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, who passed away on November 15, 2024, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, George Ryland Edwards and Nancy Patterson Edwards; his wife Kathy; his brothers, Ryland Edwards and John Edwards; and his siblings-in-law, Woodruff "Woody" Banks, Evelyn and Margaret Edwards.

He is survived by: his children, George Sadler Edwards, Jr., Nancy Edwards Fitzgerald (Harry) of Winston-Salem, Elizabeth Edwards Gladden of Atlanta and Woodruff Asbury Banks Edwards (Meredith) of Darien, CT.; his grandchildren, Susan Edwards Lewis (Dan) of Wilmington, NC, George Edwards III, Julia Edwards Ainsley (Newman) of Washington, DC, Lee Fitzgerald Kennelly of Charlotte, Katherine Fitzgerald Kenney (Jay) of Charlotte, Nicole Matthews (Asher) of Pomona, NY, Ashley Jackson (Jordan) of Atlanta, Anna Edwards of New York City and Kate Edwards of Darien, CT.; his great grandchildren, Elizabeth Lewis, Jeffrey Lewis, George R. Edwards, Hurley Edwards, Mary Wells Ainsley, Caroline Ainsley, Kevin Kennelly, Anna Kennelly, Harry Kenney, Anne Kenney and Parker Jordan; and his sister-in-law Margie Banks.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 2nd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the White Memorial Presbyterian Church (1704 Oberlin Rd, Raleigh, NC 27608). A reception will be held on Monday, December 2nd 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Jane Bell Gathering Space.
