We bid farewell to Edna Lawhon Sykes of Raleigh, North Carolina, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on November 3, 2024 at the age of 92. Edna Lawhon touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Alex Aaron Lawhon and Bertha Hughes Lawhon; her husband Marvin Thomas Sykes; and her siblings, Elouise Griffin, Elizabeth Wall, Connie Breci, Richard Lawhon, Robert Lawhon and James Lawhon.
She is survived by: her children, Donald Sykes (Karen) and Debbie Holder (Frank); her grandchildren, Craig Sykes, Eric Sykes and Ehren Holder; her great grandchildren, Kierstin, Kelsey, Lydia and Nora; and her siblings, Gladys Woodard (Bob), Carolyn Aycock (Elton), Shirley Proutey (Don), Doris Crews (Gene), Brenda Stroud (Terry) and Frank Lawhon. She is also survived by 26 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home (1200 Benson Rd, Garner, NC 27529). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Shiloh Baptist Church (3414 N Shiloh Rd, Garner, NC 27529).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Samaritan's Purse.
