He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Wilmont Chapple, Sr. and Alma Charles Chapple; and his sister Sally Ann Williams. He is survived by: his wife Betty Ann Chapple; his daughters, Stephanie Elizabeth Austin (Steve) of Raleigh, NC and Katharine Anne Tate (Skip) of Annapolis, MD; and his grandchildren, Anne Weber (Elijah) of Richmond, VA, Spencer Tate of San Francisco, CA, Abigail Austin of Wilmington, NC and Emily Austin of Raleigh, NC..
