He is survived by: his wife Alice Jones Gay; his daughter Katherine (Kathy); his son-in-law David Linthicum; his grandchildren, Michael Linthicum and Erin Linthicum Newton (Jacob); his daughter Shannon; his son-in-law Brent Hanes; his siblings, Bonnie Donaldson and Rupert Gay; and his brother-in-law Ernest Jones (Deborah). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 29th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel (2911 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC 27603). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 30th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, November 30th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Montlawn Memorial Park (2911 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC 27603).
