She is survived by: her children, Angela Marshall (Alex), Susan Anderson (Tony), Melissa (Missy) and Landers (Edward); and her grandchildren, Katie, Molly Anderson, Hank and George Landers.
When she retired in 2015, she was recognized by the Governor with the Long Leaf Pine Award, a prestigious award given to North Carolinians who "made significant contributions to the state and their communities through their exemplary service and exceptional accomplishments.".
