She is survived by: her children, Virginia Merkle (Richard) of Wake Forest, NC, Charles Slingland (Kathleen) of Lusby, MD and Susan Slingland (Wayne Middlesteadt) of Lenoir, NC.; her grandchildren, Jennifer Filosa (Gerard), Scott Slingland (Ashley) and Patrick Merkle; and her great grandchildren, Anastasia Filosa, Chelsea and Camden Slingland.
Memorial donations may be made in Betty's name to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
