He was predeceased by: his father Willie A. Matthews; and his siblings, Edward Matthews, Garland Matthews and Eileen. He is survived by: his children, Tammy Matthews Craven (Jerry Craven) and Timmy Matthews; and his brother Sam Matthews. He is also survived by four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
