He was predeceased by: his parents, William Rainey and Jo Ann Rainey (Wynne) of Virginia Beach, VA; his grandmothers, Adell Wynne and Mina Bullock Rainey; his uncles, Albert Rainey, John Rainey (Jack), Melvin Rogers (Butch), Hugh Cash and Graham Cash; his mother-in-law Lynn Ann Pautz; and his nephew Collin David Hansen.
He is survived by: his wife JoAnne Rainey; his children, Alisha Earl, Kailie Ilarraza and Colby Rainey; his son-in-law Bernardo Ilarraza (Tito) of Raeford; his father-in-law Robert Pautz (Judy); his brother Thomas Rainey; his siblings-in-law, Amy Hansen (Peter), Mary Pautz and Daniel Pautz; his grandchildren, Adrianna, Emilia and Eli Ilarraza; his aunts, Peggy McGhee (Ralph), Jackie Bernard (Barny), Louise Rainey Rogers, Virginia Miller Rainey Thomas and Barbara Pautz; his uncle Lewis Rainey (Greta); his nephews, Ryan Pautz (Sarah), Devin Collin Hansen, Jack, Sam and Ian Rainey; and his niece Mary Rainey.
