He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Henry Hartford Locklear and Verdora Chavis; his children, Merlin Ray Chavis of Shannon and Chree Perry of Baltimore; and his sisters, Janice Smith of Red Springs, Sally Jo Jacobs of Red Springs, Stella Johnson of Shannon and Vicki Lloyd of Baltimore. He was also cherished by seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
