He was predeceased by : his parents, Lacy Dickson McFadyen Sr. and Donnie Gainey McFadyen of Raeford. He is survived by : his stepson Star Elton of Wilmington, NC; his nieces, Megan McFadyen of Charlotte and Laura Mac Austin of Raeford; and his nephew Lacy McFadyen of Raeford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at Duke University.
