He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Emerson and Thelma Gray Lovelace; his son Mark Wayne Emerson; and his sister Regina McDowell. He is survived by: his wife Bettie McDaniel Emerson; his daughter Patricia E. Greenway (Sammy); his sisters, Joan Shelton (Samuel) and Vicky Crowder; and his siblings-in-law, Sylvia Mosser, Joyce McDaniel, Darnell McDaniel, Jeanette McDaniel and Bobby McDaniel. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a large group of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at 1016 W Jackson Blvd, #1073, Chicago, IL 60607.
