He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Jackson "Shug" Smith and Elsie Irene Clay Smith; and his siblings, Sam J. Smith, George Smith, James H. Smith, Beatrice Norton, Lucy Langford, Effie Wells and Myrtle Dunevant.
He is survived by: his sons, Eddie Smith (Barbara) of Providence, NC and Jason Smith of Ruffin, NC; his granddaughter Allison Smith (Alley Cat) of Providence; and his sister Barbara "Babe" Wyatt.
