He was predeceased by: his parents, William Perry and Emma Louise Massey Sugg; the mother of his children Betsy Hellen Sugg; his wife Ginny Rains Sugg; and his siblings, Bill Joe Sugg, Annie Louise Woodard and Frankie Sugg Heyward.
He is survived by: his children, Ray Sugg, Jr. (Amy) of Bonlee, Perry Sugg (Renee) of Durham, Mickey Sugg (Debbie) of Wilmington, Rebecca Sugg of Princeton, Nancy Pearson (Danny) of Wilmington, Terry Hodgin of Pilot Mountain, Laura Daughtry (Don) of Princeton and Ginger Young (Donny) of Hermosa Beach, CA; his grandchildren, Betsy McClelland, Mary McClelland, Blair McClelland, Ramy Sugg, Erin Davis (Lee), Raymond Pearson, Andrew Hodgin (Anna), Stephanie D. King, Ryan Daughtry (Amanda), Maya Sugg, Jessica Wilson (Trey) and Patrick Sugg; his great grandchildren, Braxton King, Brooklyn Daughtry and Ryker Hodgin; his stepchildren, Bill Rains (Edwina) of Gibsonsville, David Rains (Judy) of Princeton and Beth Jones (Donnie) of Newport; his stepgrandchild Chris Rains (Libby); his children, Claire, Cooper and Neil Rains; his granddaughter Kaitlyn; his daughter Jill Horne (Watson); his grandchildren, Ethan, Emma and Rebecca Jones (Cameron Mitchell); his great grandchildren, Will and Jennifer Jones (Janis Putelis); his sister Nancy Sugg Smith of Wilmington; and also, Aina and Mabel. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
