He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Lester Edwards and Ethel Kornegay Edwards. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Jackson Edwards; his children, Michael Edwards (Joey) and Sandra Howell; his siblings, Phillip Edwards (Faye) and Nancy Hardee (Billy Gene); and his grandchildren, Paige Howell, Carley Edwards and Dawson Edwards.

Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests memorials to be made to East Coast Gospel Music Association.
