He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Holmes and Essie Mae Williams Holmes; his wife Nettie Frances Hollis Holmes; and his brothers, Doyle Holmes and James Holmes.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Holmes (Bonnie), Keith Holmes (Terrie) and Michelle McGarry (Bill); and his sisters, Emma Lois Taylor, Paula Lynch and Sharon Lavergne. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Love Memorial Baptist Church, 192 Woodland Church Rd, Goldsboro, NC 27530 for Transformed Student Ministries.
