He is survived by: his significant other Emily Jean Littleton Lassiter; his children, John Lassiter, Jr. (Leigh Anne) of Princeton, Jimmy Lassiter (Stacee) of Kentucky, Jeannie Jackson (David) of Goldsboro, Joy Overman (Chris) of Goldsboro and Joanne Honn of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Heather (Jamie), Joshua David (Bliss), Pamela, Matthew Ryan (Kayla), Jason Dale, Maddie, Eric Scott and John Thomas; and his great grandchildren, Hunter, Kaleb, Kaiden, Emma, Paris, Shelby, Dallas and Easton.
