He was predeceased by: his parents, Beatrice Smith Thigpen and John Arthur Thigpen; and his son Christopher Thigpen. He is survived by: his wife Faye Lane Thigpen; and his brother Frank Thigpen (Lynne) of Pinehurst. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
