He was predeceased by: his parents, Eldra Dixon Fail and Eunice Estelle Summerlin Fail; his daughter Paula Jo Godwin; his brothers, Richard Fail and Glenn Fail; and his great grandchild Daryll Godwin, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Bertie JoAnne Fail; his daughter Wendy Fail Matthiessen (George) of Princeton; his grandchildren, Amanda Jo Lane, Josh Lane (Lynne), Joseph Mitchell (Taylor), Daryll Godwin, Chelsea Bostic (Steven), Justin Godwin (Shelby) and Harley Wise (Lochlan); his great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Parker, Charlotte, Maci, Wyatt, Charles, Grant, Liam, Paisley, Abel, Athena and Cecilia; and his sister Margie Murray (E. C.). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
